If you want to read delicate loving stories about candle-lit dinners and love-songs, followed by missionary, this is not the collection for you. What Ebert essentially does in it is unpack what he calls the “meaning cloud” which surrounds the film. (He spent a total of about 1 or 2 hrs./week on this book.)
