Editorial : About the Author Barbara Bocher, born in Oklahoma in 1935, joined the New York City Ballet in 1949 at the age of 14. The youngest dancer in the company, she appeared under the baton of Igor Stravinsky, Aaron Copeland, and Sir Benjamin Britten. In the course of her shooting star career, she worked with choreographers George Balanchine, Sir Frederic Ashton and Jerome Robbins in whose ballet, Pied Piper, she danced to the clarinet of Benny Goodman. Still in her middle teens, she graced the stages of such major venues as the Royal Opera House in London, the Paris Opera House, La Scala Opera House, Milan and the Trieste Opera House where she was partnered by premier danseur Andre Eglevsky. Cunliffe doesn't delve into much ambitious speculation, but he's careful to apply "highly debateable" to issues not clearly resolveable. Both books concern the effect subjectivity plays in our daily decision making lives. Creative output continues to reverberate throughtout concert halls.
Truly a tightly written account of significant musical contributor.. Her purpose in India is wrapped around a group of young girls in a small town who are being pushed out of the orphanage because they are of age to leave. This is a beautiful little book. A very, very useful guide in the field.
There is a very nice section included in the back on vagrants, with maps and small colour illustrations. . They grabbed hold of the forces they were discovering; Ram Dass soon studying in India with his Hindu guru.
