The author's teaching experience shows throughout the book in its clear, elegant explanations of theory. The presentation of the strategies is clear and engaging and there are multiple levels of practice problems for each strategy making it easy to meet the needs of varied learners. It also does a brief description of the life work of Henry Walter Bates, an early British explorer of the Amazon who cataloged thousands of new insect species in the region.
Overall, this is a very simple and short book, to be read in about an hour. I am surprised that some sections were permitted by the editor, but I suppose shock value and dirty details sell. She brings in local color from Seattle and tells a novel "road story" as Sophie and Josh flee to Mexico.
The book makes you think: What would it be like if the United States succumbed to a regime such as the one that has dominated China during recent decades?. Thank you for just being you, Ed and Connie Beesley !! Don't ever cha
