They start with the scan, moving to creating the lines and then to colouring. The writing is thorough, clear and easy to follow. Beautiful and fun mandalas. Through the use of his conceptual toolkit comprised of concepts borrowed from psychoanalysis (Freud, Jung, Lacan), hermenuetics (Gadamer), philosophy (Heidegger, Nietzsche), postmodern theory (Derrida, Deleuze & Guattari, Castoriadis), and mythology, Ebert teases out and delivers to consciousness the meanings hidden away in each scene. I have truly enjoyed this book. The birds are also shown in a greater number of positions, reflecting their natural behavior. In fact, one takes with a grain of salt her claim that she was invited to audition for one of the world's most significant companies as a result of a naive fan letter to a famous ballerina, rather than to any connection to a well-known couturier.
